Pornhub has recently announced to ban unverified uploaders from posting new content on the platform.
Based on its statement, Pornhub has set its most comprehensive securities, in which they have removed unverified uploaders, eliminated downloads and has partnered with various non-profit organizations, as well as implemented other major policy changes for its commitment to trust and safety of its community.
As part of its policy, the adult content platform has suspended all previously uploaded content that was not created by content partners or members of its Model Program. This indicates that all Pornhub content will only come from verified uploaders. This action also aims to combat illegal content, which non-profit organizations and advocacy groups have recognized.
Over the last three years, there have been 118 reported cases of child sexual abuse material on Pornhub; that is why the platform has been committed to taking necessary actions.
Furthermore, Pornhub also mentioned that it is targeted because it is an adult content platform and not due to its policies. The platform has pointed out two groups that have led the campaign against them: the National Center on Sexual Exploitation (formerly known as Morality in Media) and Exodus Cry/TraffickingHub. The said organizations are mentioned as committed to ending pornography, banning obscene material, and shutting down commercial sex work.
“These are the same forces that have spent 50 years demonizing Playboy, the National Endowment for the Arts, sex education, LGBTQ rights, women’s rights, and even the American Library Association. Today, it happens to be Pornhub,” as mentioned in the statement.
Pornhub recognizes that all social media platforms have the responsibility to combat illegal material. Having said that, the platform also acknowledges that solutions must be driven by real facts and real experts.
