President Duterte said that he will order an end to e-sabong following the recommendation of DILG Secretary Eduardo Año.
In a brief report by Inquirer.net, Duterte said that he agrees with Año’s recommendation to do away with e-sabong and will send an order by tonight or tomorrow.
In March, Duterte has rejected calls to suspend e-sabong in the Philippines as the government earns billions of pesos from its operations. From January to March 15, 2022, the government collected around PHP 1.37 billion from seven e-sabong licensees.
