Roblox introduces AI chat rephraser for inappropriate language

Listen to article

Roblox has introduced a new AI-powered chat rephrasing feature designed to reduce inappropriate language and improve conversations on its platform.

Instead of replacing filtered words with hash symbols (####), the system now rewrites offensive phrases in real time with more appropriate alternatives.

For example, a message such as “Hurry TF up” may automatically appear as “Hurry up!” in the chat. Users will see a note when a message has been edited, while the sender can view what words were changed.

The feature initially focuses on profanity filtering and is available for chats between age-verified users in similar age groups. Roblox says repeated use of inappropriate language may still result in penalties.

The update aims to promote safer and more civil communication across the gaming platform.
