TECNO introduces expanded AI roadmap at MWC 2026

TECNO emphasized its “Practical AI” ambition for emerging markets by announcing increased AI investment plans and a completely improved Ella AI assistant.

The year 2024 marked the launch of Practical AI which aims to enhance productivity and foster creativity through its system of localized technological advancements. In 2025 alone, TECNO processed over 500 million AI requests, more than half in non-English languages.

The company highlighted deeper localization efforts, which included its support for the Hausa language and its ability to recognize African accents, and its mixed-language processing functions. The company demonstrated its system through the ability to purchase in-app data, request rides, and order food.

The company introduced HiOS 16 together with its upgraded Ella AI assistant, which now offers a new user interface and advanced contextual understanding, supports voice replies through WhatsApp, and YouTube video summaries and productivity features that enable users to interact with AI as their personal digital assistant for everyday tasks.
