TECNO’s GGWP Season 1 dominates the Esports Scene during its star-studded Grand Finals

TECNO Philippines recently concluded the first season of their POVA 5 Series-powered GGWP Tournament on September 7, 2023, at the SM North Edsa Annex.

Out of the 400 teams that registered, only 16 teams qualified and competed in a series of weekly eliminations leading up to the grand finals in the land of dawn.

Star-studded Grand Finals

The GGWP Tournament featured the presence of renowned figures in the eSports scene such as AkokiDogie (also serving as the TECNO Chief Gaming Officer), Ghost Wrecker, Thirdy, Sainty, AJ, and Shin Gonzaga.

Adding to the excitement, the esports community had the opportunity to witness a best-of-three showmatch between the TECNO-sponsored team Minana Esport and the winner of the 2023 International Esports Federation 15th World Esports Championship, AP Bren.

Minana Esports emerged victorious with a 2-0 standing. Additionally, on the same day, TECNO also hosted the DAYO Series Semi-Finals.

Popular shoutcasters Hans Galeria, Chantelle, Manjean, Shin Boo, and Athena Rika energetically casted the live matches.

Fans were also thrilled to have the opportunity to meet their gaming idols.

Z4 Esports wins the first-ever TECNO GGWP Tournament

Z4 Esports emerged as the Grand Champion after defeating the Digital Devils (DD) Pro Gaming with a 2-0 score in an intense best-of-three match.

Z4 Sports claimed victory and received P150,000 and 6 new POVA 5 Pro 5G phones. DD Pro Gaming, the first runner-up, still took home 75,000 pesos.

And the Rough World Gaming, second runner-up, received 25,000 pesos.

The GGWP Season 1 featured the largest prize pool in the history of TECNO amateur tournaments, totaling P250,000, along with six new POVA 5 Pro 5G phones.

The GGWP, an amateur Mobile Legends tournament with TECNO as its host, aims to nurture aspiring gamers by providing them with a platform to develop their skills and talents while delivering an unmatched gaming and entertainment experience for every Filipino, just like the POVA 5 Series.

The GGWP Season 1 not only garnered over 400+ registrations but also achieved a remarkable milestone of reaching 1.4M viewership during its livestream on the official TECNO Facebook page.
