TikTok testing video avatar, audio-only live streams and more

TikTok is currently testing new features that will allow users to use avatars to create videos, as well as audio-only live streams, and more.

According to social media expert Matt Navara, TikTok is testing a video avatar feature that would allow users to choose a face template that users will be able to edit in-app. Users can then use the avatar to create videos and content through TikTok. Users will take a selfie using their phone cameras with a fun facial expression which your avatar will also match in the app.

Another new feature is keyword filtering wherein TikTok will allow users to hide content from their feeds. Adding a keyword or hashtag to a user’s filter will result in videos not showing up in the For You Page of the user.

A big experimental feature also allegedly coming to TikTok is audio-only live streams, this is according to a leak in the code of the new TikTok app. The app is also rumored to bring screen sharing which allows viewers to see what’s on a user’s screen in real time, including camera, audio, notification, and other alerts.

“We’re always thinking about new ways to bring value to our community and enrich the TikTok experience. Currently, we’re experimenting with ways to give creators tools to express themselves on TikTok.”

TikTok is also apparently testing a Group Chat feature that is shareable to others via a link. Currently the app allows users to manually invite people by sending a video or creating a group chat and manually selecting the users users want to invite.
