Visa Philippines is expanding its presence in local convenience stores, with plans to make Visa card payments available in around 1,000 7-Eleven branches nationwide before the end of 2025.

Visa Philippines Country Manager Jeffrey Navarro said the expansion follows a successful pilot program conducted last month in 11 stores. Since then, Visa has been rolled out to approximately 700 7-Eleven branches, mostly located in Metro Manila.
Navarro said the rapid expansion shows growing confidence in the system’s reliability, citing minimal operational issues during the pilot phase. The company now aims to reach nearly 3,000 7-Eleven stores by the first quarter of 2026.
The move is expected to benefit both local consumers and international visitors, many of whom rely on credit and debit cards when traveling. Navarro noted that 7-Eleven plays a key role in daily transactions for Filipinos while also serving as a familiar retail stop for tourists.

Visa also remains optimistic about the continued growth of non-cash payments in the country. According to the company, both card-present and card-not-present transactions are increasing, alongside the growing adoption of contactless payments, e-wallets, and Google Pay.
Data from Visa Consulting and Analytics further shows that card spending typically peaks for Filipino shoppers on December 23, while international card usage in the Philippines peaks around December 28, driven by post-Christmas travel. Retail goods, food, groceries, and quick-service restaurants continue to account for the bulk of holiday spending growth.
