Xiaomi has filed for a patent that features a smartphone pop-up camera design that houses a total of seven cameras.
The patent was filed in May 2019 at the CNIPA’s (China National Intellectual Property Administration) and was announced on January 14, 2020. The design shows a wide pop-up camera module at the top of the smartphone with two camera sensors on the front. For the rear, it comes in multiple models with two, three, or five cameras at the back.
Pop-up cameras are no longer uncommon in smartphone designs but it’s rare to see this amount of camera sensors in one pop-up module.
Again, this is just a patent and doesn’t always guarantee that a smartphone of said design will be released soon. If ever, it’s a glimpse of what new features smartphones could have in the near future.
