YouTube Music now available in the Philippines

YouTube Music, YouTube’s music streaming service, has finally arrived in the Philippines. The streaming platform made its debut back in 2018.


YouTube Music is an entirely separate app and web player for music. Users can sign up for a free 1-month trial however, Premium subscribers can listen to music ad-free and download songs for offline streaming. The app can also continue playing music in the background even with the smartphone’s screen off. Currently, YouTube Music can play 48kbps HE-AAC when using the low quality, 128kbps ACC when using the normal quality, and 256kbps AAC when using the high quality.

YouTube Music is offering users a 1-month free trial period, then a Premium monthly subscription is billed for a price of PHP 129/mo or PHP 199/mo for the family subscription of up to five users for Android users. Apple users are being charged a little bit more at PHP 169/mo for single premium plan and PHP 259/mo for the family premium plan.

    Been subscribed to the premium service for a month now and I find the added features worthwhile especially if you want contents such as covers, remixes and live performances that’s not found on other streaming platforms.
