Adamo Thirteen by Dell

First seen at CES 2009 back in January, Dell finally revealed details of their ultraslim Adamo laptop the other day. And it’s no secret Dell is aiming to pit Adamo against Apple’s Macbook Air.

Dell claims the Adamo is the new thinnest laptop, at 0.65 inches (16.39mm) compared to the Macbook Air’s 0.76″ base.

It’s a little heavier though, at 1.81kg or 4 lbs. Dell promises 5 hours of battery life.

The price is also something — $1,999 for the basic specs and $2,699 for the upgraded one. That does not include the Adamo external DVD-Writer or an external Blu-ray disk drive.

And since Dell conspicuously named this Adamo Thirteen, it gave credence to that leak that there’s an upcoming Adamon 9 luxury netbook.

the price is not friendly and processor clock speed seemed pretty disappointing

Yeah, the price & the processor is kinda disappointing. It will be more attractive when they equipped it with a nVidia graphics like 9400m. But the battery life will be affected.

Its so good to look at but hard on the wallet! This PC version of macbook air. hopefully this is not a Lemon system! hehe

the only thing I like with the specs is the Memory card, that’s it the rest can be seen in a 30K+ price tag… :P

  6. for a price like that, i’d rather get the mac.

That actually looks really good. I know I’ve sworn never to buy a Dell laptop ever again but this might just change my mind. Too bad about the processor speed and the lack of a trackpoint!

I don’t think the price is all that steep though. I still just can’t imagine how rapid technology is changing. Just a few years ago, I bought a rather heavy Dell at the same price point. I’ve been lusting over these lightweight laptops for quite a while now. A netbook or an ultraportable? Tough choice.

The price is steep. if you think about it, you can buy two decent fast PC based laptop. or a 15″ Macbook Pro! even the new 17″ macbook pro at this price! hehe

  9. sometimes and most most of the time, looks can be deceiving. seeing the design of this model is always telling me that it’s an apple-like NB. “wow, i like your dell its so thin, it surely got the looks, nothing but the looks. pardon me for the pun.”
