Dell’s candidate for the thin and light CULV category is the 11.6″ Inspiron 11z, now available in stores (VillMan Computers) for a suggested retail price of Php35,988.
By now, you’d notice that a lot of the thin and light CULV notebooks introduced by Dell, Acer, Lenovo, HP and Asus all start at the 35k and up price tag.
Dell Inspiron 11z
11.6″ HD display screen @ 1366×768 pixels
Intel Pentium Dual Core ULV SU4100 @ 1.3GHz
2GB DDR2 RAM (max 4GB)
Intel GS45 Chipset
320GB HDD
WiFi 802.11 b/g
1.3MP webcam
3-in-1 media card reader
HDMI port
2 USB 2.0 ports
Bluetooth 2.1
3-cell battery (option for 6-cell)
At 1.385kg (3.05lbs), this is one of the lightest notebooks in the 12-inch segment. Too bad it’s pre-installed with Windows Vista Home Premium (although I think you cna have this upgraded to Windows 7 for free).
at 35K, it’s a waste.
You can get an Asus K40IN with 512MB dedicated Nvidia graphics for a lot less. Core2 2.2GHz /WifiN too!
Having a light notebook is good but something this slow will drive anyone insane.
Nice, but 35K!!!

So it’s another miss for Dell huh? Why didn’t they just put in Windows 7 in this one? Perhaps it’s because of the graphics chip.
I’m interested in the 14z – 6-cell, 7200 RPM drive, ATI graphics…

Too bad the graphics needs a lot be desired.. and the Dual Core may drain even the 6 six cell battery too fast
