Epson to release EcoTank printers, ink replacement every 2 years

It seems that Tokyo-based giant Epson is planning to step up its game as they are reported to be releasing a whole new series of printers called EcoTank Supertank printers that aim to solve the prevailing problems of its inkjet counterparts.

One of the main selling points of the new series is that they have deep ink storage that could hold a lot more ink (could last around 2-3years each). These would reportedly print about 4,000 documents which is nearly twenty times more than the present home and small business printers.

Some of the features that these new printers would have include:

  • No more out-of-ink frustration
  • Freedom to print in color
  • Innovative, super-high-capacity, refillable ink tanks
  • Print thousands of pages without replacing ink
  • Ultra low-cost replacement ink

The EcoTank Supertank printers have been reported to arrive this September with the starting price posted at $379 (approx. Php17K). Although the price is actually higher than the usual printers, it sounds like it would still be a good investment against the current models since although these printers are more affordable, they require frequent changing of ink cartridges that are honestly cumbersome and sometimes even messy.

With Epson’s EcoTank printers, the company aims to deliver less time refilling and changing of cartridges while providing better quality prints. To know more about the printers, you may visit their official website.

Not really revolutionary here in Asia, as Epson (and lately Brother) has been selling these type of printers for a few year now.

That press release is meant for the United States, where ink tank printers sold by the printer manufacturer themselves is non-existent. So Epson will be the first.

BTW, they are way cheaper here… the low-end L220 (Printer/Scanner) is just 7k++

ang problema sa epson is yung waste ink counter or whatever counter it is, that once reached, it wont print again, and may times na mahirap hagilapin ang resetter nito. pinagdadamot din ng mga sellers most of the time.
