Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx 7nm PC chipset now official

Qualcomm has announced a new chipset and the first for its Snapdragon Compute platform, designed to be used on thin and light Windows laptops, the Snapdragon 8cx.

The Snapdragon 8cx is the world’s first 7nm PC platform, which sports the new octa-core Kryo 495 CPU — Qualcomm’s fastest Kryo CPU, and the new Adreno 680 GPU — their most powerful GPU ever. Qualcomm says that the Snapdragon 8cx increases performance while using a fraction of the power required by competing solutions, for better battery life and always-on connectivity.

The Snapdragon 8cx also has support for Quick Charge 4+, Qualcomm Aqstic audio technology for advanced audio and high-def Bluetooth wireless audio, 2nd-gen USB 3.1 over Type C, 3rd-gen PCI-E, and 5G connectivity thanks to the Snapdragon X24 LTE modem — the same modem found in the Snapdragon 855.

The Snapdragon 8cx is currently sampling to customers and is expected to begin shipping in commercial devices in Q3 of 2019.
