Samsung Series 9 comes in 11.6″ too!

Listen to article

When Samsung launched their ultra-thin Series 9 laptop in the Philippines last week, they only showed the regular 13.3″ variant. I thought it’s such a waste they didn’t include a 11.6″ variant that would go head-to-head with the 11-inch Macbook Air.

Turns out they did a 11-incher too (as reported here) with better specs than the Mac Air equivalent.

The specs is similar to the 13.3″ Series 9, though with lower SSD capacity:

Samsung 9 Series 11.6
11.6″ display at 1366×768
Intel Core i5 Processor 2537M @ 1.40 GHz (Turbo Boost up to 2.3 GHz)
Intel HD GT2 Integrated Graphics
4GB DDR3 RAM
64GB Solid State Drive (SSD)
Windows 7 Home Premium/Professional (64 bit)
WiFi 802.11b/g/n
USB 3.0
Bluetooth 3.0
3 watt (1.5watt x 2) stereo speakers & 1.5watt sub-woofer
Lithium Polymer, up to 6.5 hours

The 13-inch model has a suggested retail price of Php79,999 ($1,599 in the US) so I’m guessing the $1,199 price of the 11.-inch variant will end up selling for Php59,999 when it hits the local market.

You can see more photos and coverage of the Samsung Series 9 launch here.

Good specs without that 64gb SSD. SSD is not doing will, in my own experience

everything seems to be good though the price is really a pain in the ass.
It’s light, it’s good, the specs were great, and the price is heavy. The price is the only thing heavy with this notebook hahaha

I’d rather get the new model of Sony Vaio S :| At $999 it has better specs, and it’s VAIO. lol.

Everything looks good except for the price. If I were to buy an ultraportable notebook, i’ll just prefer the Asus U36JC…better performance and cheaper price.

At least the Iconia has a unique gimmick with their dual touch-screens.

This laptop is basically a Macbook Air lookalike; slightly thinner, slightly heavier, yet $200 more expensive for the same size. Well at least it has a backlit keyboard unlike the Air.

It seems Samsung wants to be more of a premium brand than Apple.
