Western Digital unveils SanDisk 1TB SD card prototype

Western Digital, SanDisk’s parent company, has unveiled the 1TB SDXC card prototype, aimed photo and video professionals handling high resolution content.

As indicated, the SanDisk 1TB SDXC card is just a prototype so it’s going to take a while before it becomes available in the market. However, WD’s demonstration of the said technology is proof that higher capacity cards are just around the corner.

“The SanDisk 1TB SD card prototype represents another significant achievement as growth of high-resolution content and capacity-intensive applications such as virtual reality, video surveillance and 360 video, are progressing at astounding rates.” said Dinesh Bahal, vice president, product management, Content Solutions Business Unit, Western Digital.

WD didn’t mention when the SD card will arrive in the market but you can expect it to be pricey.
