Mr. Nice Ash will be missing a lot of his favorite blogs since their corporate network will be installing WebSense. WebSense is a blocking software program aimed mainly at the corporate market but also used in some schools.
An alternative to subscribing and reading blogs is via email and FeedBlitz does this quite well (and I believe to be the most widely used service for this specific purpose):
FeedBlitz reads your blog’s RSS feed – a computer-readable form of your blog produced by all the blogging tools out there. It then figures out what’s new and sends the updates to subscribers by email.
The free standard service (nightly updates, no user-based branding or custom graphics) is FREE for publishers and subscribers. There are no ads, no popups; just your content formatted and delivered by mail.
With this, you can have a subscription form available on your blog where readers can sign-up and get updates via email (see the right nav box). There’s also a running count of subscribers just like the FeedBurner chicklet.

nice! thanks abe for sharing this with us. ash asked me to send him updates on my blog so i will find this useful. i also installed a WP plugin where a subscribed email receives a full copy of the latest entry but im not sure if it works coz ash didn’t say anything.

don’t forget that feedblitz subscriptions are also counted by feedburner. this allows you to have a better picture of how many people are actually subscribed to your blog.
on the other hand, people who didn’t know this have added the numbers in my feedburner and feedblitz chicklets and concluded that i have more subscribers than i actually do =)

Right now it appears like Expression Engine is the best blogging platform available right now.
(from what I’ve read) Is that what you are using on your blog?

Greetings from Carolina! I’m bored to tears at work so I decided to browse your blog on my iphone during lunch break. I really like the information you provide here and can’t
wait to take a look when I get home. I’m surprised at how fast your blog loaded on my phone .. I’m not even
using WIFI, just 3G .. Anyhow, excellent blog!

Hey! I understand this is sort of off-topic but I had to ask.
Does building a well-established blog like yours
require a lot of work? I am completely new to writing a
blog however I do write in my journal every day.
I’d like to start a blog so I can share my personal experience and feelings online. Please let me know if you have any kind of recommendations or tips for new aspiring bloggers. Thankyou!
