Twitter adds a new feature called Fleets, which helps users share their thoughts and join conversations online.
Twitter’s latest feature allows users to write text, share tweets, record a video, or post a photo temporarily. Any media shared under the feature disappears after 24 hours. This helps them to be more comfortable sharing personal and casual thoughts, opinions, and feelings.
The feature is somehow similar to Messenger and Instagram Stories.
Users may customize the shared media and Tweet in Fleet with various background and text options.
Here’s how to share tweets in Fleet:
- Tap the “Share” icon at the bottom of the tweet.
- Choose “Share in Fleet.”
- Add some text or emojis.
- Tap the Fleet button.
Look for the Add icon located in the upper left corner of the Twitter home timeline to share texts, photos, and videos in the Fleet. From there, you may choose the type of media you want to share for 24 hours. To post it, choose the Fleet button.
Followers can see your Fleets at the top of their home timeline. Anyone who can see your full profile can see your Fleets there too. If you have open Direct Messages, anyone can reply to your Fleets. If you want to reply to a Fleet, tap on it to send a Direct Message or emoji to the author, and continue the conversation in your Direct Messages. Learn more about how Fleets work here. Users can see who views their Fleets, including accounts with protected tweets, by clicking into their Fleets and tapping on the Seen By text at the bottom. Followers can see Fleets at the top of their home timeline. Public Twitter accounts also grant other users access to their Fleets by tapping on their profile photo. However, those with protected tweets won’t be able to share their Fleets outside their followers.
Those who have open Direct Messages can get a reply to their posted Fleets. People may reply to a Fleet by tapping on it to send a Direct Message or emoji to the author and continue the conversation in Direct Messages.
Twitter said that the feature would be updated with new features based on the users’ feedback. Soon, it will include additional stickers and live broadcasting.
The feature is now available on iOS and Android in select countries. In the coming days, everyone globally will have Fleets on Twitter.
