Acer has finally introduced its Macbook Air counterpart with the Acer Aspire S3 ultrabook -- a 1.3cm super-thin laptop. The Aspire S3 will weigh under 1.4kg or less than 3lbs (the equivalent Macbook Air is still lighter) and Acer promises up to 7 hours of battery life. While running Windows 7, Acer has achieved some really fast access times -- 1.5 seconds from Sleep, 6 seconds from Hibernate, 2.5 seconds to connect to WiFi, and an idle time (Deep Sleep) of close to 50 days. In related news, Lenovo also announced their own ultrabook -- the Lenovo IdeaPad U300s. The Acer Timeline notebook boasts of up to 8 hours battery life and sports a nice slim design (slimmer than most netbooks). Most of the Acer notebooks I've seen around are ugly and bulky but the Acer Timeline series changed that impression. The 13.3" Acer Timeline costs more at around Php45,000 while the 14" has a retail price of Php39,990. I should have said "Have you seen the Acer Aspire One" but didn't bother to argue anymore.
