Today, May 12, Google experienced a temporary outage, with thousands of users reporting issues with Google Search. The error message displayed: “Server Error. Google has not announced an official statement for the outage yet, but the company has fixed similar service disruptions in previous situations through quick engineering efforts. The Senate of the Philippines has questioned the Department of Information and Communications Technology over the recent outage of the eGovPH Super App, citing funding and infrastructure limitations behind the disruption. The outage occurred after more users began using the new services which included the National ID e-Verify platform according to DICT Undersecretary David Almirol Jr. According to Almirol the platform received simultaneous usage from banks GCash Maya and the Department of Social Welfare and Development. He added that the backend infrastructure was not prepared for the sudden demand, forcing the agency to rely on limited cloud savings to support the rollout.
