The collaboration will send out the first two satellites dedicated to the country through a program that is expected to generate USD 400 million in the next eight years. As part of the company's Internet.org effort, Facebook will collaborate with Eutelsat, a French-based satellite provider across Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas, to launch the AMOS-6 satellite to provide internet coverage to large parts of Sub-Saharan Africa. The satellite is currently under construction and is slated to launch in 2016 to cover West, East and Southern Africa. Facebook will also work with local partners in the region to make internet services accessible through satellite.
