The announcement comes from Amazon chief Andy Jassy, who has sent a memo to staff indicating the upcoming job cut, which will mostly impact people working in Amazon Web Services, People Experience and Technology (PXT), advertising, and Twitch. The news comes only a couple of months after Amazon revealed some 18,000 layoffs. Amazon isn’t the only big company announcing layoffs though. Last year, other major tech companies also announced layoffs such as Microsoft and Google. Amazon today announced their very own smartphone called the Amazon Fire Phone.
