Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has recently announced on his Facebook page that the company will be launching a satellite into orbit to provide internet access in remote regions in the planet. As part of the company's Internet.org effort, Facebook will collaborate with Eutelsat, a French-based satellite provider across Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas, to launch the AMOS-6 satellite to provide internet coverage to large parts of Sub-Saharan Africa. The satellite is currently under construction and is slated to launch in 2016 to cover West, East and Southern Africa. Facebook will also work with local partners in the region to make internet services accessible through satellite. Toshiba has introduces the Satellite Click 10, a Windows 10-powered convertible device with a 10-inch WUXGA display, Intel Atom x5-Z8300 processor, and a reasonable price tag. Two US-based satellite internet providers are expected to launch in the Philippines this year, according to the Department of Information and Communications Technology. Aguda did not name the companies, but said they are both established satellite service providers.
