Whether you’re using Android Auto or a car with Google built in, your dashboard is about to look and act a whole lot different. Firstly, Google is looking to bring its fresh Material 3 Expressive design philosophy from its smartphones/tablets to Android Auto. Android Auto now supports Full HD video (60fps) for apps like YouTube while the vehicle is parked. Google Meet is starting to roll out on Android Auto, bringing video call access to car displays, although with some notable limitations. One key limitation is that work accounts are not supported on Android Auto. Google recently introduced Meet support for Apple CarPlay, and the Android Auto version is expected to expand further in the coming weeks. Google is extending its Android Automotive OS (AAOS) beyond infotainment systems, introducing a new platform aimed at powering the next generation of software-defined vehicles (SDVs). The new initiative, called Android Automotive OS SDV, transforms the platform into a deeper, system-level operating foundation that can run multiple vehicle functions, not just entertainment and navigation (Android Auto).
