Android Go is a lightweight version of Oreo which was announced back in May. The official launch of Android Oreo (Go Edition) came alongside Google's announcement of the final release of Android 8.1 Oreo. The MediaTek SoCs that already have support for Android Oreo (Go Edition) includes the MT6739, MT6737, and MT6580, among others. The company is promising a Q1, 2018 worldwide release for Android Oreo (Go Edition) smartphones powered by their chipsets. Along with the announcement of the Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform, Qualcomm has also announced that it will support Google's Android Oreo (Go edition). Android Go was announced by Google in May and is based on a lightweight version of Android Oreo that can run smoothly and efficiently on entry-level devices that have 1GB or less (512MB) of memory. The Android Oreo (Go edition) is expected to be available running on devices based on Snapdragon mobile platforms in early 2018. The Sciphone Dream G2 will run Android Home edition V1.0, and will come with GSM/EDGE support, up to 16GB memory on microSD.
