X has launched Chat, a new and more private version of Direct Messages. Users can edit or delete messages, set them to disappear, get alerts when someone takes a screenshot, and even block screenshots in some cases. When Chat is set up, the app creates special encryption keys protected by a PIN stored only on the user’s device. To use encrypted DMs, users must be on the latest X app and connected with the person they’re messaging. The new app is a merged version of Affinity Photo, Affinity Designer, and Affinity Publisher. This eliminates the need to switch between different apps when working on a project. Notably, there are toggles in the app for Pixel, Vector, and Layout modes. The new Affinity app is free, although it comes with extra features that are only accessible with a Canva membership.
