Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman—who has a reliable track record on everything Apple—says that Apple is working on a new HomePod that combines Apple TV functions, and a FaceTime camera in a speaker vessel. Gurman noted in his Power On newsletter Q&A that he “absolutely” thinks that a new HomePod is brewing that will likely be “at the center of Apple’s approach” to home amenities. Apple previously discontinued the original high-end HomePod in March 2021, while its predecessor, HomePod mini launched in 2020 gained more popularity due to its lower pricing. Thus, Gurman suggests that it wouldn’t be surprising Apple launches new version of HomePod mini with such integrated features. Apple's Unleashed event also unveiled three new color options and additional features for its HomePod mini. The Apple HomePod mini is equipped with a full-range driver, force-canceling passive radiators, and runs on the Apple S5 chip to provide a unique characteristic when playing music. The HomePod mini applies complex tuning models to optimize loudness, adjust the dynamic range, and control the movement of the driver and passive radiators.
