Apple has released iOS 12.5.8 to keep key services like iMessage, FaceTime, and device activation working on older Apple devices that can no longer upgrade to newer versions of iOS. Apple confirmed the change in its release notes, saying the update ensures continued access to these services on supported older devices. While the certificate does not expire until 2027, Apple recommends installing the update early to avoid future service issues and to help catch any lingering bugs. Along with the recent announcements of MacBook Pros, AirPods 3 and even new color selections for the HomePod mini, Apple has announced that they will release a new batch of software updates on October 25. Documentation for the upcoming updates can be read on Apple's developer page. Apple has recently granted a patent for software that generates synthetic group selfie. Based on the PDF file uploaded on the US Patent and Trademark Service website, the software an Apple device user to invite friends and participate in a group selfie. The software would then collate each person's images and put it into a single photo to make it like they are in a single frame.
