In a report by Reuters, ARM, a company owned by Japan's SoftBank Group Corp, has learned that its ARM v8 and v9 architecture were determined to be of UK origin, following a comprehensive review. Back in May, ARM suspended its business with Huawei in compliance with the restrictions set by the U.S. companies from working with Huawei, alleging that the company is a national security risk. Huawei's HiSilicon uses ARM's chip technology for its Kirin chipset. "Arm is actively communicating with department officials regarding any support of our partner HiSilicon, and we remain confident we are operating within the parameters of those guidelines," an ARM spokeswoman told Reuters via email. ARM, a company that designs chips to be used in mobile devices, has suspended its business with Huawei.
