Acer's new dual-core AMD-based ultraportable is the Acer Aspire 1551. It's the fraternal twin of the Aspire 721 we reviewed a while back with an identical design and body. In most respects, the Aspire 1551 is the dual-core version of the Aspire 721 with an AMD Athlon Neo II K325 running at 1.3GHz (slightly lower than the 721's 1.7GHz, single core, but with the same TDP of just 12 watts). Battery life isn’t as impressive as the other Aspire Ones but a median time of around 4 hours on a single charge (based on BatteryBar) isn’t bad at all considering you get a more powerful CPU and graphics combo. Looks like Acer was the first one to let out a 12-inch netbook in the market with the 11.6" Acer Aspire AO751. Just a fair warning -- since the Acer Aspire One AO751 runs Windows Vista Home out of the box, you will most definitely experience a laggy performance. Just 5 days after the new 10" Acer Aspire One has been formally announced, the new model is ready for pre-oder with a suggested retail price of Php25,995.
