According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), ASUS has recalled 10,000 ASUS ROG Maximus Z690 Hero Motherboards as it is a fire and burn hazard. Consumers that purchased flagship ASUS motherboards for the 12th Gen Intel processors before December 2021 can check if the motherboard is part of the issue by simply inputting their serial number through ASUS support. The report initially came in from a YouTuber earlier this year. ASUS Z690 Hero motherboards that were affected had serial numbers starting in MA, MB, and MC — a serial number which you can find on a label next to the 24-pin ATX power connector or the box.
