However, instead of just riding the waves, Avegant has taken the Virtual/Augmented Reality fad to the next level with their device dubbed as the Glyph. Just recently, we had the liberty of taking an Oculus Rift prototype for a spin. But as cool as it may seem, we find the Rift too bulky for comfort; a complete opposite of Avegant’s Glyph that can pass for a high-end headphones. Instead of an obtrusive LCD/LED panel smacked in front of your face, Avegant utilized a technology coined Virtual Retina Display, which projects images straight to your eyeballs through a set of “low-power, low-light LED light". According to Avegant, their brainchild will make its debut on CES 2014 and they’ll take it to Kickstarter to gather more funding in preparation for mass production. Facebook and Oculus have teamed up to create a Facebook Horizon, a multiplayer virtual reality world for the Oculus Quest and Rift platforms. With the introduction of Facebook Horizon, it has also been announced that Facebook Spaces and Oculus Rooms will be shut down by October 25.
