Canon dSLR owners who wished they had the same HD video recording features like the Canon 5D Mark II might find this little nifty tool with their cameras. I was able to record video using my Canon EOS 40D. The app is pretty simple -- extract the software, connect the USB cable to your dSLR (40D, 1000D, 450D), click on Record, zoom/focus the camera lens manually, click on stop when done. Canon organized a whole-day affair to celebrate the Philippine release of over 30 products in their line, including the much awaited EOS 5D, 50D and 1000D. I got some shots and price list below: The Canon EOS 5D Mark II came out sometime last week -- boasts of a 21.1 megapixel full-frame 35mm CMOS sensor, DIGIC IV. The Canon EOS 50D on the other hand was first announced last August (see specs here) -- has a 15.1 megapixel sensor and an ISO of up to 12800. Now this is going to disappoint those who bought the Canon 50D earlier and paid premium for it -- Canon's new entry level dSLR, the EOS Rebel T1i (commonly known as the Canon EOS 500D), now offers full HD video capture at 30fps. Video capture using dSLR seems to be the in thing now -- the Canon Rebel T1i features 16:9 720p HD video capture at 30 fps as well as a Full HD 1080p video capture at 20 fps, and a third option to record 4:3 standard TV quality (SD) video capture at 640 x 480 pixels and 30 fps.
