I told him most of our telcos have that feature that can track you down by just triangulating your cellphone's signal. My question is -- if GPS tracking via cell tower triangulation can just be accessed and used by somebody inside the telco, what protection against invasion of privacy do we have? These include additional LTE upgrades, new 5G sites, tower builds, and Fiber to the Home (FTTH) rollout. The network investment has yielded 1,064 new cell sites, 10,600 mobile sites upgraded to LTE, and 1,887 new 5G sites nationwide. For many, it was quite a surprise that PLDT was selling off Smart and Sun Cellular towers to 3rd-party tower companies. The move seemed a bit off considering that, for the past several years, one of the biggest problems why mobile connectivity is still a huge concern among consumers in the Philippines and that is because the number of cell towers isn't enough to properly cover the entire archipelago. So why is PLDT selling off their towers? PLDT included in the sale agreement that they will be leasing these very same cell towers from the new owners.
