Animal Systems, the team behind the free app called Chirp has now made their super cool app available for Android users. Chirp’s main function is to transmit pictures from a smartphone/tablet to another smart device using SOUND. No cables, wires, not even Bluetooth, just pure specifically pitched tones that emulate the sound of a bird’s chirp. The app does this is by temporarily storing shortcodes of the file (pictures, notes and/or links) to the cloud. After which, the transmitting device creates a chirping sound that correlates to that file which is then decoded by the receiving device that allows it to pull that specific data from the cloud. For further reading about how Chirp works, you can check out this link. The app is available for both Android and iOS devices. Apple has loosened its grip on retro console emulators within the App Store.
