GitHub removed the repository following a copyright complaint filed by a third party, not Google. While discussing cases of copyright infringement over a dinner meeting the other night, I was told that when such cases go public and pushes thru in the courts, it becomes a sensitive issue -- it's because all of us have committed some copyright infringement of some sort at one time or another. I would be hard-pressed to stand in court, point to someone who infringed on my copyright and not admit I do the same thing myself. Anton earlier filed a Php 1.2 Million copyright lawsuit against Manila Bulletin (including the graphics artist and section editor) for publishing his photos without his permission {see earlier story here and the first coverage here}. In a potentially landmark case, a Php1.2 Million copyright infringement suit was filed against print publication Manila Bulletin for illegally using and printing photos of professional photographer and blogger Anton Sheker. Is this going to be the first time that a case on copyright infringement and the Internet as a medium is in question? Been getting a lot of reports about blogger's copyrighted photos or pictures being used and broadcasted on TV or printed on the newspaper without attribution or credit.
