Corning has officially announced their newest glass protection, aptly named Gorilla Glass 6. The new Gorilla Glass will be replacing the widely-used Gorilla Glass 5. According to Corning, Gorilla Glass 6 is twice as tough as the previous GG5, thanks to its added resistance and durability to drops. The manufacturer is claiming that the new Gorilla Glass 6 has survived 15 consecutive drops from a 1-meter hight on rough surfaces and has better survivability at higher heights. Corning provided a promotional video (link here) where they demoed the drop tests they did with GG6. Corning extends its glass technology to the PC market with the announcement of the Gorilla Glass NBT - the company's latest cover glass designed to help protect touch-enabled notebook displays from scratches and other forms of damage that come from everyday handling and use. In fact, for just 1 to 2 percent of a notebook’s retail price, consumers can now get the best cover glass solution: a Gorilla solution. Meanwhile, Dell has also announced that it will be using the Gorilla Glass NBT on its newest products.
