UnionBank of the Philippines has partnered with digital assets services provider, Coins.ph, to make crypto and other emerging asset classes more accessible to the open market. The partnership covers four key services offered by Coins.ph: simple buying, selling, and conversion; spot trading; crypto wallet and custody features; and cash in and cash out. Through this partnership, UnionBank will be able to help its clients future-proof themselves, democratize accessibility of cryptocurrencies, and promote adoption of the technology. The crypto offerings powered by Coins.ph will now be more widely accessible through other platforms, providing UnionBank customers with greater reach. GrabPay users in the Philippines now have the option to top up their wallets using cryptocurrency such as BTC, ETH, and stablecoins. According to a recent in-app notification, the top-up service is done in partnership with local crypto exchange PDAX. GrabPay says it remains compliant with Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) regulations, meaning crypto-related transactions are still subject to local financial laws. This move adds another use case for crypto in everyday payments, letting users convert digital assets into pesos for use within the Grab ecosystem.
