Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) While OIS uses special hardware, EIS or Electronic Image Stabilization uses software and the chipset's computing power to produce steady shots. Unlike OIS, the stabilization in EIS happens when the image hits the sensor. In most cases, EIS is more suited for stabilizing videos. OIS + EIS Smartphone camera manufacturers use both OIS and EIS in some of their camera modules to provide the best possible stabilization on a smartphone. Brands like Huawei even came up with the term Artificial Image Stabilization or AIS, which is another form of EIS that uses AI to process the image or video. Carl Zeiss, a company known for quality optics, has unveiled the VR One, an affordable virtual reality headset that uses your smartphone's display. The Carl Zeiss VR One works similar to Samsung's Gear VR and Google's Cardboard as it needs a smartphone to be its primary display.
