Xiaomi has recently updated its End-of-Life (EOL) product list, officially discontinuing support for several smartphones under the Mi, Redmi Note, and POCO lines. According to Microsoft's support page, the company announced the "End of Life" of Internet Explorer 8, 9 and 10 for the following Windows 7 Service Pack 1, Windows 7 Service Pack 1 x64 Edition, Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 x64 Edition. To keep those legacy machines safe from potential threats, the tech giant introduced the Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU) program last year, allowing personal account users to opt into continued patch coverage. Since Windows 10 was supposed to be retired at the end of 2025, the 1-year extension program was originally scheduled to reach its absolute end on October 12, 2026. However, Microsoft has quietly updated its support documentation, adding a full extra year to the lifeline. Enrolled consumer devices will now officially continue to receive critical security patches until October 12, 2027. While we would've enjoyed if Microsoft called it the "Extended Extended Security Updates program," it seems like they fully intend for this extension to fly under the radar. For anyone already enrolled in the consumer ESU tracker, Microsoft confirmed that the extended coverage will apply automatically with no extra steps required.
