Facebook and Oculus have teamed up to create a Facebook Horizon, a multiplayer virtual reality world for the Oculus Quest and Rift platforms. Facebook Horizon VR platform that allows users to socialize with friends and others by building their own environments, games, or explore worlds created by others. With the introduction of Facebook Horizon, it has also been announced that Facebook Spaces and Oculus Rooms will be shut down by October 25. Facebook Horizon will also be launching an open beta in early 2020, with sign-ups now ongoing. Facebook has announced at Oculus Connect 5 (OC5) their first all-in-one VR system with six degrees of freedom - the Oculus Quest. The Oculus Quest lets you look around in any direction and walk through virtual space just as you would in the physical world. The Oculus Quest comes with Touch controllers, so you can interact with people and objects in a natural way. Facebook will have more than 50 games and experiences for Oculus Quest at launch including some Rift games like Robo Recall, The Climb, and Moss, with more coming soon.
