The Event This year, five Filipino photographers earned international recognition at the XMAGE Awards, representing the Philippines in this global mobile photography event. We met and talked to two of the 5 Filipino winners -- the first one was Rhon Velarde with his entry “Glimmer of Hope” that was shot on a Huawei P40 Pro. Three other Filipino mobile photographers were given respective awards: Philip Am Guay for his entry “Celestial Kois” shot with a Huawei P40 Pro+; Bien Bacarra Jr. [caption id="attachment_421979" align="alignnone" width="1261"] Energy Monitoring LG ThinQ App [/caption] This is especially relevant for Filipino households, where electricity costs are high and the heat is relentless. This personalization service allows adult users to turn their devices into one-of-a-kind pieces inspired by contemporary Filipino art. The collaboration is channeled through De La Salle’s School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies (SDEAS), which offers education to Deaf Filipino students.
