The Event This year, five Filipino photographers earned international recognition at the XMAGE Awards, representing the Philippines in this global mobile photography event. We met and talked to two of the 5 Filipino winners -- the first one was Rhon Velarde with his entry “Glimmer of Hope” that was shot on a Huawei P40 Pro. Three other Filipino mobile photographers were given respective awards: Philip Am Guay for his entry “Celestial Kois” shot with a Huawei P40 Pro+; Bien Bacarra Jr. The competition includes various categoriessuch as “Faces,” “Good Night,” “Colour & Shade,” “A Heartwarming World,” "Experimental Lab," "Storyboard," and "Action" that showcases the artistry and technical skill of the photographers using any Huawei smartphone. - Mark Padecio What both photographers agree on is that the XMAGE Awards does not really require you to own or use the latest Huawei smartphones.
