What was once known as the Galaxy Alpha series, Samsung has just created another line of premium smartphones that is positioned just below the Galaxy S and Note series. In a way, the Galaxy A8 with its large 5.7-inch display is like the counterpart of the Note 5, sans the S Pen. At 5.9mm on the side, the Galaxy A8 is the thinnest of the family, beating its predecessor the Galaxy A7 which was already very thin at 6.3mm. In fact, the A8 is the thinnest Galaxy yet. Performance is really good, at par with the Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy S5 (for the Exynos 5 Octa variant) although we wish Samsung would have at least bumped the RAM to 3GB. It's already confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy Tab will be launched in the Philippines before end of October (that's next week!) and we finally got the retail price down to the dot -- Php34,990 (thanks to our source). The price isn't surprising (though I thought it would be a bit higher by a couple grand) considering its baby brother, the Galaxy S, sells for Php32,000.
