Globe has apparently started a slow rollout of Rich Communication Services, or RCS, the new standard that aims to replace SMS and MMS, for select subscribers. RCS, for the uninitiated, is an upgraded SMS standard for improved text and multimedia sharing. The nearest RCS comparison would be iMessage, Apple's proprietary messaging app between iDevices. RCS can facilitate file sharing and it can allow users to read message receipts even in group chats. The newest version of Android Messages has now been found to display the option to enable "Chat Features," but only for a number of Globe and TM subscribers. Editor's Note: We have sought Globe Telecom for a statement regarding this report. So it's not a surprise that Globe Telecom has dropped its Globe Visibility Mobile Prepaid kit down to just Php3,500. Globe started offering their new prepaid and postpaid plans for Visibility back in June 23 when we first reported it here.
