For about a year or two, car GPS systems have started to become available in the Philippines. There are at least 3 or 4 different companies offering portable GPS in the country and some car dealerships have also started bundling them with a new purchase of a motor vehicle. So far, the current line-up of GPS devices are pretty capable. Anybody out there using a GPS in their car or have some other solutions (as a cheaper alternative) like Ovi Maps on their phone or iPad too? Launched back in February, Vector is among the very few GPS devices that are available in the Philippines. This touch-screen GPS comes with a built-in battery that lasts about 3-4 hours on a single full charge but you can always hook it up via a mini-USB car charger that comes with it. The system loads quite fast and the satellite look-up of the GPS locks in under 10 seconds (though this will heavily depend on your location and other barriers). What I really liked about the NDrive system is that you can just pin-point any location or area in the screen and the GPS will take you there with its turn-by-turn navigation (so you're not just restricted to POIs or search data).
