Mobile wallet GCash has announced that they have partnered with Grab Philippines to soon provide Grab customers access to GCash as a direct payment method on the Grab app. The GCash cashless payment method will be available for GrabCar, GrabFood, GrabMart, GrabExpress, and other Grab services and is slated to be available on the Grab app this February. In addition, Grab customers will soon be able to avail of GCash exclusive deals and special treats for using GCash in their Grab transactions. Several companies, including GCash, Visa, and Mastercard, have shown interest in the Philippine government’s plan to create a single fare payment system for trains and other transport. Aside from GCash, Visa, and Mastercard, other companies like Siemens Mobility, Hitachi Asia, LG CNS, and Cubic Transportation Systems also joined a market study held in Singapore. Filipino travelers will soon have a new way to pay abroad as GCash and Klook announced a new travel card, the first of its kind in Asia, set for release this December. The GCash–Klook Travel Card is powered by Visa, allowing real-time currency conversion and letting users track their spending in pesos. GCash executive Barbara Dapul added that the card lets users pay with their GCash wallet in over 200 countries, even without cash or mobile signal.
