Grab has just launched its first-ever hackathon named the AI for Southeast Asia challenge. Grab is calling for participants who are versed in technology to join the hackathon. In the AI for Southeast Asia challenge, Grab aims to promote the use of data and AI to solve urban challenges in Southeast Asia, mainly traffic congestion and safety. The hackathon has three themes, namely, Traffic Management, Computer Vision, and Safety. In Traffic Management, participants are encouraged to use Grab's data to build an AI model and solve traffic congestion in Southeast Asia's roads. In Computer Vision, participants are asked to build a data model that can optimize and automate the process of identifying a Grab vehicle's details. The top 50 participants will be offered a full-time position in Grab. Grab resumes its 24/7 operations in Metro Manila and select provinces to strengthen public transportation amid the pandemic.
