Honor has recently announced that it is committing to seven years of OS and security patches for its flagship phones. The extended update policy will first apply to the HONOR Magic7 Pro. However, another source claims that all recent HONOR Magic devices will get the new update policy, starting in EU. In Europe, Honor’s seven-year pledge goes beyond the new EU Ecodesign Directive, which requires phone makers to provide at least five years of OS updates. Fei Fang, Honor’s president of products, explained that this push reflects consumer demand for phones that are not only powerful but also reliable and long-lasting. Notably, the move comes part of Honor’s ‘Alpha Plan’—that the company announced at MWC 2025. HONOR just announced the Magic V6 at Mobile World Congress 2026, presenting one of the slimmest foldables yet at just 8.75mm. Durability is highlighted by IP68/IP69 ratings, a hinge rated for 500,000 folds, reinforced UTG, and HONOR Super Steel construction.
