Smartphone shipments dropped 18.3% year over year to 300 million units in Q4 of 2022, according to preliminary data from the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone tracker. This marks the largest-ever drop in a single quarter for smartphone shipments, for an overall 11.3% decline in shipments for 2022, according to the IDC in its most recent press release. The IDC says that the drop is due to "significantly dampened consumer demand, inflation, and economic uncertainties." The Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker also gathered data on the Top five companies in terms of Worldwide Smartphone Shipments for Q4 of 2022, with Apple, Samsung, and Xiaomi making up the top 3. IDC Philippines has released their has released their latest report, showing the top 5 smartphone vendors in the country for the first half of 2018. Below are the Top 5 vendors for the 1H 2018 according to IDC: Cherry Mobile continues to lead the smartphone market in terms of unit market share but experienced a slight decline as it faces price competition with international brands and their strong marketing. IDC Philippines' Market Analyst, Polyne Gallevo, says that the higher ASP indicates that Filipinos are willing to invest in a phone with better specifications and features to suit their latest needs.
