After years of delay, Intel has finally unveiled its 10nm 10th-Generation Core processors codenamed Ice Lake. According to Intel's presentation, Ice Lake will begin 9W, 15W, and 28W parts, coupled with up to 4 cores, 8 threads, and a 4.1GHz turbo clock speed. Ice Lake is also noted to have an 18% increase in average instruction per cycle, compared to the Skylake architecture by the company released four years ago. Intel also promises Ice Lake to deliver a boost in graphics with its Intel Iris Plus graphics based on Gen 11 integrated graphics architecture, 2x faster HEVC encoding, and 2.5x AI performance. Intel officially outs its 8th generation Coffee Lake Core processors today, and claims that the new chips will offer 40 percent speed boost compared to the 7th generation Core Kaby Lake chips. The 8th generation chips' architecture, both their CPU and their integrated GPU, is also similar to that of the 7th generation Kaby Lake, thus Intel calls the architecture of these chips "Kaby Lake refresh". Aside from that that, Intel has also confirmed Ice Lake, a successor to the Coffee Lake. Additional features will be available on select devices with Gemini Intelligence.
